v0.5.8 Update

Hey Roller Fam, we’ve got a lot of bugfixes and balancing changes rolling out today in preparation for our multiplayer alpha launch this Friday.

Balancing Changes:

  • The toxic fog was rather unforgiving at the start of the game, making it hard for new players to get used to the controls without dying in the first hundred meters. We’ve decreased the starting speed for the fog, but made it speed up faster over the course of a run. This makes the first 500 meters or so easier, while 1km+ has gotten a little harder.
  • We made a few tweaks to the speed and duration of the different dashes: Most of the dashes are a little bit faster, and the diagonal dashes are also slightly longer.
  • At high speeds the gas explosions were an absolute death sentence, but when moving slow they felt more like popping balloons. The explosions now feel like explosions, no matter how fast or slow you’re going.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where gas canisters wouldn’t disappear after exploding in certain situations.
  • Changed the toxic fog speed calculation to prevent rare cases where it would reach infinite speed.
  • A number of bugfixes in multiplayer lobby & game code.
